L & CPU Knock Out

BuryPS L&CPU Knock Out Set

L&CPU knockout competition: 17th November Poynton Civic Hall Park Lane SK12 1RB 6.30pm


4 Images from each were used in the knockout, the Kingfisher, Hare and the Mill all successfully got through to the 3rd round with the Sidecar making it to the 4th round. After 6 rounds in total, BuryPS came joint 3rd with South Manchester with 15 points which was an improvement on 2017 where we came 4th with 13 points.


Bury Bolton Battle

October was the month of our regular battle with Bolton Camera Club. There were two rounds that included Photographic Prints and Digitally projected images. These four images from Bury Photographic Society  were awarded the full 20 points by the judge Christine Widdall, that helped contribute to a win on the evening to Bury by 14 points.

Annual Exhibition

The Bury Photographic 2018 Exhibition was officially opened by the Mayor of Bury, Jane Black the President of the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union Ian Aldcroft.

Our members were given awards for receiving top marks in photographic categories, that included Monochrome, wildlife and sports photography. Our free exhibition is on display at Bury Art Gallery until Saturday 17th November 2018

George Steele

George Steele LRPS CPAGB BPE2* has been added to the list of Accredited judges in the LCPU. At the moment only just over 50% of the LCPU judges have been awarded Accredited status.
George has been judging for over 14 years and typically judges up to 15 competitions each year. He has also taken part in the past in the training of new judges.
He operates as a judge in not only the LCPU area but also the Yorkshire Photographic Union area.

To reach Accredited status a judge has to attend a course and then receive at least 6 consecutive good reports from clubs where he has judged
