About Bury PS

Membership of the Society is open to all with an interest in photography. Meetings are held throughout the year on Thursday evenings, doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start. Venue for meetings is:

The Society has a broad and wide ranging syllabus with something to suit every photographic taste. At the present time membership numbers over 50 with attendances at meetings usually above 30.

The expertise of the membership covers the spectrum of photography, ranging from traditional record photography to the latest techniques in digital imaging.

An Exhibition Competition is held annually. The ensuing exhibition, usually lasting for four or six weeks, normally being staged at the Bury Art Gallery in February and March, with some 140 framed prints being shown.

Twelve monthly competitions, for prints digital projected images and slides, are held during the year, with awards for the most successful workers. In addition to internal competition the Society enters, with some success, open competions held by the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union, the Inter-Club Photographic Alliance and other Clubs and Societies.
